Are you talking about using ARC, the AdsRestructure API, or the SQL ALTER TABLE interface? All allow specifying the position of the new column. In ARC just drag the column up.

What version are you using? This sounds like a multi-monitor bug that was fixed a while ago.

Can you export your registry key for "local_machine\advantage data architect" and email it to advantage@ianywhere.com and put attn:JD in the subject? Please also include a screen shot if you can, as well as your screen resolution.

What version of ARC are you using? I created table A and table B and created an RI rule. I then tried importing a.csv and got the "object with the same name already exists" error. That makes sense, but it did not delete the existing A table. Everything seems fine.

                jeremym1234jeremym1234 commented  ·

No, it isn't, but the csv import is not used very much. I think most people import from a supported database or OLEDB. I'll look at fixing the issues that caused you to get to your current state. To fix it, right-click the table in the repository and select Properties. Go to the "Table Properties" tab and change the "Auto Create" property to true. Click OK. Now double-click the table in the repositor to open it. Advantage will automatically create the table, at which point you can remove the RI constraint or do whatever else you would like.

Good suggestion, we should expose this functionality via SQL.

This is currently possible if using our OLE DB provider via the ADSPROP_ENFORCE_AUTOINC connection setting: http://devzone.advantagedatabase.com/dz/webhelp/Advantage9.1/mergedProjects/adsoledb/adsoledb/provider_specific_connection_properties_for_ado.htm

It is also available if using the ACE API via the AdsDisableAutoIncEnforcement call.

Right click on the tables node or the db node and hit refresh.

Consider a grid with an integer field F1 and a string field F2. Imagine a text box above the grid for searching. If the user types in a word in the string field, the grid is filtered via FTS and only rows with that word are displayed. If they then type in an integer value (one they can even see actually exists in F1), an FTS search can only find that integer in F2. If FTS was allowed on all field types, then the developer would only have to implement a single search call and it could find values in other fields like F1. This would provide a single free form search over every field in the table by setting one simple FTS filter.

You can use our odbc driver if using Windows. No official support in the works right now, but we did develop a prototype adodb provider for php (which is the native db access Delphi for PHP uses).

I imagine we would use overloaded functions to retain the old prototypes, but provide a consistent set of new functions as well.

Can you clarify this a bit? I don’t understand what you are asking for. We already have a callstack window and the ability to move up and down in it. I don’t know what you are asking with regards to the exceptions. If you could provide an example usage case that might be helpful.

Do you want to see the record contents? If you have a cursor you are processing you can expand the cursor row in the "watches" tool window and it shows the record contents.
